TRACKING THE TREK: CHANDRAKHANI PASS
The tranquillity and enthralling sights of the Chanderkhani Pass is the reason for its budding fame amongst the young birds of passage. Situated in Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 12,190ft, this pass is all about the panoramic sight of the hills sprinkled with snow on the top. Chanderkhani’s fortunate but rare snowfall lets you stroll over the snow-drifted mountain turning it into a treasured memory. Beat the heat from May to October whilst enjoying the charming scenery. The splendour of Chanderkhani is bound to leave you dumbstruck.
The moderately difficult trek requires no prior experience as such, but keeping yourself fit is always good. Your body can be well prepared for the mount with some regular or weekend exercising, mainly jogging and stretching. Due to the commonness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) while climbing, being fit and healthy is absolutely non-negotiable on the trek. (Or in life! )
The trek begins from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. You can simply reach there by grabbing a Volvo from Delhi or any major bus terminal in Punjab and getting off at Kullu. If you opt for a flight then take a flight to the Bhuntar and board a local bus or taxi to Kullu. Rail connectivity is also a good alternative. Jogindernagar and Pathankot are the nearest available railway stations.
Apart from the trek, there are several nearby attractions in Kullu itself. Exotic species of flora and fauna can be found in the Himalayan National Park. Another 3K.M. trek awaits you at the prominent Bijli Mahadeva temple. The enchanting scenery of Kullu valley can be seen on the top of the temple trek. Satisfy your travel lust by planning a short-spanned rafting trip along the waters of Beas River.
To enjoy your trek with comfort and ease, you need some extremely necessary gear. Buying the gear can be a sheer wastage of money for most of us as it is of no use in everyday life.
